Hi! I am Luli Monteleone and today we will
explore the mountains of southern India, in Kerala! We spent the whole morning on the bus and now we are here in a nature reserve that theoretically has elephants, monkeys and tigers, We didn’t see anything yet! We had lunch at a place here that is not a restaurant so I could not eat anything … Besides I do not like the food, I ate something that I think gave me allergy at first … I can not even say “first bite” because we had to eat with our hand again … So far so good! but the first portion I put in my mouth gave me an allergy Then I stopped eating soon because we are in the middle of nowhere and I do not want to get sick here! Good Morning! We wake up early to go boating here in a lake in the mountains We’re in the tigers reserve but we probably will not see tigers … We hope to see … wow, monkeys already! We hope to see elephants! But what a cute thing !! We left the boat trip a bit early, we stopped here at this hotel … which is where the Maharaja stayed … I did not understand very well… Anyway … We stopped for coffee! We did not see elephants … so sad! But we saw an Indian buffalo, otters … so cute! veals passing by, very cute, and several birds! And the landscape is very beautiful! Here there is always a big reception! There’s even music! I’m felling like a celebrity! There’s always juice … It could be fresh, right? But here they have something against cold drinks … but it’s fun! Namastê! Then you go out saying “Namaste” to everyone, it’s great! We have a few hours off in the afternoon, so we ran to enjoy the pool from the hotel! Look: beer! But the coolest part is: 600ml beer !!! This is a typical beer from here, Kingfisher! It had been a long time since I drank 600ml beer, because we do not have it in Portugal. In Brazil it is normal … Look how beautiful this pool, the water is warm … It’s not heated, it’s just because it’s really hot! Here at the hotel there are lots of monkeys too! This one came to eat very close to us! Kalaripayattu: Indian martial art Today our day is starting at a
tea and spices plantations. Here in the mountains at least it’s not that hot… Obviously it’s too hot yet … But we have not started to sweat yet, which is a very good thing! We are going for a walk around here, to know a little more about local spices, how they are grown. They’re showing us several plants … They even finished taking turmeric straight off the ground, I just found the format of this one very weird! Offer to the gods before lunch! Today we have again the traditional Kerala lunch: Sadya… I already explained to you that we have to eat it with our hand! But I’m scared because I think everything here is spicy, except the rice … This vegetable here is not spicy, but it has coconut … The problem with food here, for me, is … What is not spicy, has curry, what has no curry, is sweet …. Or it’s all together and mixed! It’s really hard!
