Mahango Game Park is just south of Popa Falls. we took the eastern route along the river. There is a lot of wildlife in Mahango, because water is present here all year round. Papyrus. There are many species of antelope here. The sable antelope is a large antelope species, where the males have a shiny black coat, large manes in the neck and horns up to a meter and a half long. The females are more maroon and have smaller horns. The warthog sinks through its front legs to eat. The red lechwe has a red colored coat. Only the males have horns, so that is a bachelor group. They have a preference for wetlands; on solid ground they move awkwardly and relatively slowly. There are big Baobabs in the park, this is the Giant Baobab and is reportedly 1000 years old. The Roan antelope is very similar to the sable antelope, but it is slightly larger, has a yellow-brown coat and shorter horns. The clear, upright manes run over the neck to the shoulders. The African green monkey always remains funny to watch. And many birds, such as the African Darter, the African wattled lapwing, the saddle-billed stork, birds of prey, the southern yellow-billed hornbill or better the ‘Flying Banana’ and the always elegant ostrich.
