Here’s how to access Safari books online. Start on the Primo Library Search page and click on ‘databases’.
Find Safari Books online in the A-Z list or enter ‘safari’ in the search bar. Once you’ve clicked on ‘Safari books online’ you will be asked to enter your academic email
address. This is your Ara email address which is your network username @arastudent.ac.nz.
This gives you immediate access for up to 3 days. But it’s only temporary. O’Reilly
will send you an email to your student email address to set up an ongoing account.
Go to your student email account and look for their email “Your O’Reilly Access – Activation
Required!”. You can follow the unique link in the email to set up an account with your
Ara email address. We recommend you use your network password for your Safari O’Reilly
account. Once you have set up your account, go back
to databases on the Primo library search page. Find ‘Safari Books online’ in the A-Z list
or enter ‘safari’ in the search bar. Click on Safari Books Online’ Instead of entering your email address – click on “Already a user? Click here” Type your student email address and the password you created. From here you can search for books directly. Use the search bar here to search keywords,
or choose to search by title, author or publisher. You can also use Primo library search to find
Safari books in the Ara library catalogue. Look for Safari O’Reilly ebooks under full
