Every February from coast to
coast to coast Canadians are invited to participate in Black
History Month. This year’s theme is “Canadians of African
descent going forward, guided by the past”. This was
inspired by the United Nations International Decade for People
of African descent. The decade is an opportunity to highlight
and celebrate the significant contributions people of African
descent have made and continue to make to Canadian society.
Our government is committed to supporting and advancing our
country’s diversity. We have and will continue to
take positive measures to ensure all Canadians have a
fair and equal chance of success because Canada’s
strength is in our diversity.
