With a bike like this, you’ll want to ride a lot. The new 2020 Africa Twin now has 4 riding modes and 2 user modes, each designed to give you the most out of any condition. Each one of the 4 default riding modes is preset with the best combination of Power, Engine Braking, and ABS, plus suspension damping on the Adventure Sports ES model. Let’s take a look at each setting: Tour mode is designed for long trip comfort even when fully loaded with a passenger and luggage. It uses the highest Power level, mid-range Engine Braking, and active On-road Cornering ABS. On the Adventure Sports ES model, the Suspension damping is set to hard. Urban mode is your best all-around mode, especially on city roads. It uses mid-level Power, Engine braking and active On-Road Cornering ABS. For the Adventure Sports ES model, suspension damping is set to Medium. Gravel mode is great for exactly that, gravel… or really any slippery surface where traction may not be readily available. It uses the lowest Power level and Engine braking, Cornering ABS is active and on the Adventure Sports ES model, the suspension damping is set to soft. All of this gives you a nice stable ride and helps keep you from spinning your wheels. The all new Off-Road mode is the most dynamic. It has a stronger power application than the Gravel mode, but the same low levels of engine braking. The cornering ABS is active, however, for more technical off-road use, the rear ABS can be switched off. The Adventure Sports ES model also has an Off-Road specific suspension damping setting for this mode, helping you tackle any obstacle or terrain that you might encounter. Finally, there are now TWO User modes that let you personalize every setting. You can choose between 4 power levels, 3 engine braking levels, 7 levels of HSTC, 3 levels of wheelie control and 2 ABS controls for either on-road, or off-road applications. You can also adjust suspension damping on the Adventure Sports ES model to Hard, Mid, Soft or Off-road to suit the demands of any ride.
